The Caring Experience: Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us. Accordingly, we have developed this Policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate and disclose and make use of personal information. The following outlines our privacy policy.

The Change Foundation (TCF) and the Ontario Caregiver Coalition (OCC) will engage and/or interact with a wide assortment of participants in The Caring Experience public engagement and/or project activities. These activities are always completely voluntary, but as participating in these activities involves the collection, use and disclosure of some personal information, protecting privacy and personal information is one of our highest priorities.

Throughout The Caring Experience, both TCF and OCC will adhere to the following guidelines and responsibilities to ensure your privacy and personal information is protected.

TCF and OCC will obtain your consent to collect or use your personal information.

In the rare situation when TCF and OCC may want to use personal information, the person’s permission will be sought, and if they agree,  explicit consent will be obtained in each instance.

TCF and OCC will obtain separate consent to take and use your Photographic Likeness or Videography.

If you choose to share your caregiving experience or story during the Open Lines Town Hall, this information will be considered public. However, your personal information will be kept confidential unless you choose to freely share it. TCF and OCC will err on the side of caution in releasing any details of a story that could inadvertently/indirectly identify you.

Future discussions and activities (i.e. journey mapping sessions or caregiver reflection workshops) will be recruited by invitation and will take place in a confidential environment. All personal opinions will be protected. TCF and OCC will produce summary reports of engagement and project discussions that will include excerpts or quotes from the discussion; however these quotes will not be attributed to individuals.

Subject to certain exceptions (e.g., information previously consented for disclosure is already in the public domain), you can withhold or withdraw your consent for TCF and OCC to use personal information in certain ways.  Your decision to withhold or withdraw their consent to certain uses of personal information may restrict your ability to participate in The Caring Experience.  If so, TCF and OCC will explain the situation to assist you in making the decision.

If you have any questions about your privacy related to this project, please contact us at or toll free 1-844-454-0107.
